About Juicy Jar

Juicy Jar is a free fruit merge puzzle game you play straight in your browser. A big glass jar sits in front of you and a fruit hangs above it. Slide left or right to aim, let go, and the fruit drops in, rolls and settles against the others. When two fruit of the same kind touch, they squish together into the next, bigger fruit with a splash of juice and a handful of points. Keep merging and a pair of blueberries becomes a cherry, then a strawberry, a lemon, a kiwi, an orange, a plum, a peach, a coconut, a pineapple and finally a giant watermelon.

The catch is space. Every drop adds a fruit to the jar, and only merges make room. Fruit roll, wobble and wedge themselves into gaps, so a jar that looked tidy a moment ago can suddenly have a cherry stuck under a pineapple. If any fruit pokes above the dashed line at the top of the jar for more than a couple of seconds, the jar overflows and the game is over. A red line and a small countdown ring warn you when the pile gets too high, which gives you a last chance to drop the right fruit and clear some room.

Juicy Jar is easy to learn and hard to master. You only ever drop the five smallest fruit, from blueberry to kiwi, and a preview at the top of the screen always shows which fruit comes next. That makes planning possible: keep big fruit together in one corner, build a staircase from big to small, and save a spot for the fruit you know is coming. Every merge scores more than the one before it. Making a strawberry is worth 3 points, a peach 28 and a watermelon 55, and when two watermelons meet they pop out of the jar entirely for a 100-point bonus and a lot of free space. The fruit ladder along the bottom of the screen shows the whole chain, with the fruit you have not reached yet faded out.

Everything in the jar follows real physics. Fruit have weight, so a falling coconut shoves blueberries aside, and a merge in the middle of the pile pushes its neighbours outward and can set off a chain of further merges. Some of the best moments in Juicy Jar come from one well-placed drop that sets off three or four merges in a row. Each fruit has its own cheerful face and its own look: a sliced kiwi, a striped watermelon, a spiky pineapple crown. They spin as they roll, which makes it easy to see what is moving.

Two helpers can get you out of a jam. Undo takes back your last drop, which is handy when a fruit bounces somewhere you did not expect. Shake gives the whole jar a good jolt so a stuck fruit can find its partner. You get one free use of each in every game. The game saves your jar automatically on your device, so you can close the tab in the middle of a game and pick it up again later, and it keeps your best score so you always have a target to beat.

Scores climb fast once you get the hang of it. A first game often ends somewhere around a thousand points with an orange or a plum as the biggest fruit, while a patient, well-planned jar can pass four or five thousand and pop more than one pair of watermelons. The difference is almost always the shape of the pile. Players who keep the jar sorted from big to small, and who think one drop ahead using the preview, make room faster than the jar fills. Players who drop wherever there is a gap end up with small fruit buried at the bottom. Try both styles and see which one beats your best score.

Juicy Jar works on phones, tablets and computers. On a touch screen, drag your finger to aim and lift it to drop. With a mouse, move to aim and click to drop, or use the arrow keys and the space bar. A typical game lasts five to fifteen minutes, which makes it a good fit for a coffee break, and the jar is always ready for one more try. The game is free, loads in a moment, and needs no download, account or app.

Tips and strategy

  • Keep your biggest fruit together along the bottom and one side of the jar, and build down in size from there, like a staircase.
  • Look at the next fruit before every drop. If a lemon is coming, leave a lemon-sized gap next to the lemon already in the jar.
  • Don't scatter small fruit. A lone blueberry trapped under big fruit takes up space for the rest of the game.
  • Chain merges score the most. Drop a fruit where its merge will touch the next size up, and let the jar do the rest.
  • Save your free Shake for a real jam, such as two matching fruit separated by one small one.

Frequently asked questions

Is Juicy Jar free?

Yes. Juicy Jar is free to play in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to download and no account.

Is Juicy Jar like the watermelon game?

It is a fruit merge game in the same family: you drop fruit into a container and merge matching ones until you reach a watermelon. Juicy Jar has its own fruit, art, scoring and helpers.

What is the biggest fruit?

The watermelon. Two watermelons that touch pop out of the jar for a 100-point bonus instead of merging into something bigger.

When is the game over?

When any fruit stays above the dashed line at the top of the jar for about two and a half seconds. A falling fruit doesn't count, only fruit resting on the pile.

Is my game saved?

Yes. Your jar, score and best score are saved in your browser on this device, so you can close the tab and continue later. Clearing your browser's site data resets them.

How do Undo and Shake work?

Undo takes back your last drop and Shake gives every fruit a jolt to loosen a stuck pile. You get one free use of each in every game.
